Authorities in Wugang have dismantled an illicit e-cigarette production ring operating out of a secluded rural property, leading to the arrest of eight individuals allegedly involved in a scheme to smuggle products to Thailand. The joint operation, conducted by the Wugang Municipal Forest Public Security Bureau and the Wugang Tobacco Monopoly Administration, was initiated following tips from local residents, culminating in a raid on a remote farmhouse compound in Dengyuantai Township, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province.

During the enforcement action, all eight suspects were detained on-site, with four subsequently placed under formal criminal detention. Law enforcement officials confiscated over 20,000 disposable e-cigarettes, 51 kilograms of specialized e-cigarette flavoring essence, semi-automatic filling machines, and a substantial quantity of raw production materials. Additionally, four vehicles linked to the operation were seized, with the total value of the illicit enterprise preliminarily estimated at more than two million yuan.

Investigations have revealed that the criminal group sourced raw materials from Guangdong Province, conducting unauthorized assembly and processing within private rural residences. The finished products were intended for illegal cross-border distribution to Thailand for commercial gain. This case represents the largest e-cigarette counterfeiting operation uncovered in Wugang in recent years.

All suspects have been criminally detained as the investigation proceeds. Police emphasize that e-cigarettes fall under state-monopolized regulatory categories, and any unauthorized production, processing, or sale—even for overseas markets—constitutes a criminal offense subject to legal prosecution. Authorities urge the public not to be tempted by high-profit offers and to report any suspicious activities involving the production, filling, or distribution of unknown e-cigarettes or questionable e-liquid products by calling 110 immediately.
